Hockey star Sunil Acharya felicitated on visit to city

Mangalore, Mar 11, 2012: S. V. Sunil Acharya, the Indian hockey star from Coorg, was felicitated at Shri Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple on March 10 when he was on a visit to the city.

Sunil, the son of Shantha and Vittal Acharya of Somwarpet, recently won two Man of the Match Awards in the Olympics hockey qualifier held in New Delhi.

In response to the felicitation, Sunil expressed his gratefulness to his family for encouraging him. He also expressed his eagerness to participate in the London Olympics later this year.

Sadananda Shetty, the chairman of the Shri Devi Educational Institutions, expressed his appreciation of the hockey player and wished him luck. He also said that the institute will support all sportspersons who seek help.

Keshavachar Shri Kaalahasthendra Saraswati Swamiji of Katpady and Shri Shivasujanamurthy Swamiji of Hassan, the authorities of the Shri Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple, were also present.
