Subrahmanya, July 20, 2013:   Heavy rains which lashed the pilgrim town of Subrahmanya and surrounding areas on July 19, Friday afternoon, left Kumaradhara river overflowing while also throwing normal life out of gear. The Kumaradhara bridge submerged once again  on Friday afternoon, for the fourth time this monsoon.

Luckily, the number of pilgrims visiting Subrahmanya Temple was quite less compared to other days as it was an Ekadashi.  Still several pilgrims  who had arrived from Bangalore, Mangalore, Kadaba, Uppinangady and those who had alighted from the train at Nettana Railway Station  had to face problems.

Several children  remained stranded on the other side of the bridge unable to return homes leaving parents worried. Finally, Sullia MLA  Angara  made arrangements for special buses to  operate from Subrahmanya to Kadaba via  Panja so that students could be ferried back home safely.

Power lines in various nearby villages were also affected due to fall of tree branches. At  Ainekidu-Kedila,  a transformer was damaged after a huge tree fell on the road.
