Mangalore, Nov 14, 2013: State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader has been chosen for the coveted Gandhi Darshan award given by the Media Research Institute, a part of the Gandhian Organisation, Tiruvananthapuram, in recognition of his outstanding services as a minister and his efforts to improve rural health services.
Veteran journalist TP Rajeevan who is settled in Mangalore, has also been chosen for the Award for his contributions to the literary field. For the first in the history of the Gandhian Organisation, the award is being conferred on two non-Keralites.Gandhian Anna Hazare has been chosen for the Special Gandhian Award.
The names of the Awardees were announced on November 13, Wednesday by Gopinathan Nair, a renowned Gandhian at the Tiruvananthapuram Press Club.
Other awardees are : M K Raghavan (For Politics); Prof. G Balachandran, Chairman of National Coir Board( For Rural employment); C R Neelakantan (For social work), Dr. Kunjali( for service to the poor) and Metro Muhammad Haji (Business).
