Mangalore, August 7: Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, inaugurated an 8-day discourse on the Bhagavad Gita by Vidhwan Pavagada Prakasha Rai at Town Hall on Saturday.
In his presidential address, Karnataka Bank MD P. Jayaram Bhat said that moral values are important in the life of every individual. He later released a DVD of the discourse on the Bhagavad Gita.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Punaroor lamented that the youth hardly have any moral values and do not even know how to respect their elders.
Shri Sharada Seva Trust of Suratkal, Shri Sharada Mahotsava Samithi of Suratkal, the department of Kannada and Culture, Kalkura Institution, and Shri Krishna Jnana Samithi of Kadri jointly organized this programme.
Vidhwan Pavagada Prakasha Rai will conduct the discourse daily from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. till Aug 13, Saturday.
Vedamurthy I. Ramananda Bhat, chief priest of Idya Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Suratkal; A. Raghavendra Rao, the president of Shyamarao Foundation and Shrinivasa Group of Colleges; Shridhara Shetty, the president of Sharada Seva Trust, were also present.
