Hard working Mangaloreans release Sompa’s music CD

Mangalore, Sep 7, 2012: The team behind the new Tulu comedy movie Sompa did something unique by inviting members of the working class for the release of its music CD at a special event held at Press Club on September 7, Friday. 

The music CD was released by Monthu Lobo, the first auto rickshaw driver of Mangalore and winner of the Sarathi No. 1 Award, and Tara Nayak (51), who supplies milk and newspapers early in the morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lobo said that he is touched by the gesture of the Sompa movie team and wished the movie all success. Tara Nayak said that he likes Tulu movies and wished the new movie all well.

 

 

The new Tulu movie Sompa was produced by Namritha Hegde and Geetha Hegde and directed by Rajan Lalpuri of Mumbai. It comprises 4 songs bearing the titles “Bolli Paradedonji Menkundu,” “Mandedd Malla Mundas Olla,” “Udalaase Mudundu,” and “Nikar Nikar Ke.” The last song is in Hindi. 

Iqbal Darbar has provided the music and Shashiraj Kavoor, Vijaykumar Kodialbail, Rajan Lalpuri, and Thamma Laxmana have provided the lyrics. Dr. Nithin Acharya, Rimidar Arif, and Dr. Sushil Rao have provided the background music. 

Producer Namritha Hegde, who is also playing the lead female role in the movie, said that the movie will be released in two weeks, adding that the crew will announce the exact date of release in 2 – 3 days. She also said that the name of the movie was changed from Rampa to Sompa because Rampa’s family objected to it, adding that the family is now objecting to some of the dialogues in the movie. Stating that the movie does not defame anybody, she said that the people can watch the movie once it is released and judge for themselves.
