Karkala, Oct 10, 2013 : In a tragic incident, a young housewife has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her parental home on October 9, Wednesday.
The incident took place just two days after the woman’s return to her motherland from Muscat where she stayed with her husband. Harassment by her husband and in-laws is learnt to have driven her to the extreme step.
The deceased woman has been identified as Reshma (23), daughter of BM Iqbal, a retired bank officer and Shahida. Reshma was given in marriage to Asif of Hangarakatte in June this year and the couple had soon after left for Muscat. Sources said after her return from Muscat, Reshma told her parents about the harassment at her husband’s place.
Asif was living with his parents in Muscat and his marriage with Reshma was his second marriage, his first wife reportedly dying due to cancer. It is learnt, at Muscat Asif’s first wife’s son too stayed with them. There is information that her family ill-treated Reshma, made her do all household chores and served food to her in the bathroom. She was also offended and tortured by her husband.
It is learnt, the deceased woman has left behind a death note blaming her husband and in-laws for her suicide.
Local police are investigating the case.

She could have taken the other solution for the problems given by her in laws,if is true, instead of this wrong decision. Her wrong action made/created more problems to the husband and his parents. Her parent lost their beloved daughter, which could have avoided by counseling her. |
