Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2021: Police have registered a case against Hindu Jagarana Vedike Organising Secretary Jagadish Karanth for issuing a threat to the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district during the  Rudragiriya Ranakahale programme held at Karinja in Bantwal on November 21.

Karanth in his address at the meeting had set December 21 as the deadline for the administration to  suspend illegal quarrying in Karinja area. "If the demand was not heeded, thousands will march to the  DC office and hold him by his collar," Karanth had warned.

Soon after this, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra had lodged a complaint at the Punjalakatte police station following which Karanth has been booked under IPC sections 153, 117, 504, 506 and 189.
