Guest lecturers stage protest against non-payment of salary

Mangalore, Feb 5, 2013:  Guest lecturers serving in various Government first grade colleges in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts staged a protest in front of the DC office in Mangalore on February 4, Monday demanding immediate payment of their pending salaries.

The protest was held under the aegis of the DK and Udupi District Guest Lecturers’ Association. The protestors accused the Education Department and the government of harassing them by not paying their salaries since July 2012.


The protestors demanded that their pay be hiked to Rs 15000. Presently, masters degree holders were getting Rs 8000 while Ph.D degree holders and NET passed candidates were getting Rs 10,000.


 They also demanded regularization of services and  urged the government to secure justice to them at the earliest.
