There is information that Jayachandra has already  written to Home Minister KJ George and a decision regarding entrusting the case to the CBI  is likely to be taken soon.

Speaking to reporters  here, Jain has said though  the Chattisgarh government was not  co-operating with the probe, the DGP of Chattisgarh has suggested a CBI probe. Jain said an appeal has been made in this regard to the Chief Minister too and the Cabinet would take an appropriate decision.

The theft was reported on July 12 night. Police have arrested the prime accused  Ghanashyam Das alias Santosh Das and have recovered three stolen idols while the remaining had been reportedly sold to a jeweler in Chattisgarh. Even the wife and father-in-law of Santosh Das and a jeweler of Chattisgarh have been arrested in connection with the case.
