Manipal, July 9, 2012: Dr. Karan Singh conferred the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2012 on Manipal University on the occasion of the 14th World Congress on Environment Management held in Hotel Le Meridian in New Delhi on July 7, 2012.
On Jan 22, 2012, Dr. Ramdas M. Pai, chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group, was awarded Golden Peacock Lifetime Achievement Award 2011 in recognition and appreciation of his contributions to healthcare and education.
A panel of judges with Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former chief justice of India and member of the UN Human Rights Commission, as the chairman selected Manipal University for the Golden Peacock Award.
Dr. H. S. Ballal, pro chancellor of the university; Colonel Badri Narayanan; and Environment Executive Derrick Joshua received the award on behalf of the university.
The Golden Peacock Award was given in recognition of the university’s environment management excellence.
