Mangalore, Nov 20, 2013: In yet another case, customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport have detained two passengers from Kasargod for trying to smuggle gold worth around Rs 28 lakhs on November 19, Tuesday.
The gold was detected in the suitcases of the passengers concealed in wires coated with silver paint in the beedings of the suitcases.The arrested passengers are Abdul Jaleel Talangara Ismail and Abdul Nazeer Bannur.
The two had arrived by the Air India Express flight at 7.30 am. A total of 920 grams of gold was found in their possession.
Just a few days ago, officials had arrested a passenger smuggling gold in the strap of his footwear.
