Gas, Ration Card Consumers Forum to hold public contact meet on Jan 28

Mangalore, Jan 24,2013: Members of various organizations have come together under the banner of ‘Gas and Ration Card Consumers Forum’ in order to find a solution to the several problems faced by LPG consumers as well as people who have applied for ration cards.

The Forum which wants to genuinely strive to solve the problems faced by consumers due to a cap on subsidized LPG cylinders has convened a public contact meeting at Town Hall on January 28 at 2.30 pm to discuss the issue.


Dharmendra K, President of the Forum, who spoke to reporters in Mangalore on January 22, Wednesday pointed out how LPG consumers  had to face problems due to inordinate delay in supply of cylinders, sometimes the agencies taking 20  to 30 days to supply the same. He said there have been instances of people having billed Rs 480 in some places in the outskirts of the city though the actual cost of a subsidized cylinder was Rs 417.


He said even the problems faced by people who have applied for ration cards will be discussed at the meeting. The Forum has plans to hold similar meetings in Udupi and other places.


Deputy Director of Dakshina Kannada District Food and Civil Supplies Department Sharanabasappa, advocate Shashiraj Rao Kavoor and President of Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association P B Harish Rai will be the chief guests at the meeting.


General Secretary of the Forum Siddeeq Jakribettu and members Rekha Baliga, Ajay Kumar and Mohammed Mohsin were present at the press meet.
