Gang of 6 blackmailers arrested; search on for 4 more accused

Udupi, May 15, 2014 :  In a major breakthrough the  Padubidri police have  arrested a gang of six men who had been blackmailing a young man and threatening of releasing his nude picture on social sites if he did not pay heed to their demand for a cash of Rs 20 lakhs.

The arrested are Vijendra (35) from Bikarnakatte,  Shailesh Bangera (33), Esha Kumar(33), Gration D’Souza(26), Bhagavandas alias Das(31) and Sandeep (27). Police are on the lookout for four other members of this gang.

The police acting upon a complaint by the victim Brijesh YJ of Yellur near Padubidri, arrested the two. It is learnt the accused claiming they have Brijesh’s nude pictures which they took when he was under the influence of alcohol had been demanding cash of Rs 20 lakhs failing which they will release his photos in newspapers and social sites. It is learnt, a terrified Brijesh had been paying them cash over a period of time.

It is learnt they even began to harass Brijesh who left Mangalore to work in his father’s jewellery shop at Yellur.

Police have seized  Rs 25000 which they had reportedly collected from Brijesh in the recent past, a Tata Indica Car and cell phones.
