Gang of 3 escapes with valuables worth Rs. 14.50 lakh

Udupi, march 6, 2012 : A house located behind Baliga Hospital, Doddanagudde was burgled by a gang of 3 thieves on March 4 Sunday night, at around 10:30 p.m.

 

The owner Kanaka R. Amin said that the thieves have stolen an Innova car and valuables worth Rs. 14.50 lakh.

Kanaka, along with her relatives Vasudev, Prakash, and Gurudev were watching TV when 3 strangers rang the doorbell and enquired about Santhosh, a painter. When they tried forcing their way inside the house, the family resisted, but they showed a kife, stabbed Vasudev and gagged him.

They then forced Kanaka to open the steel cupboards and stole nine bangles, a gold chain, 2 diamond rings, an American diamond ring, a pair of diamond earrings, 3 watches, Rs. 1.75 lakh, 3 mobile phones, and a laptop. They then escaped in the Innova car, which was parked in front of the house.

Kanaka’s two children live abroad. While one of them is in Dubai, the other is in Mumbai. Kanaka’s relatives stay with her as she is alone.

The Manipal police have prepared a report regarding this case. Three police teams are currently investigating the case and reportedly, they are making some progress.
