Mangalore, Aug 9, 2011 :  The Mahatma Gandhi Peace Movement organized an elocution and patriotic music competition for school children in commemoration of the Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi at Mahatma Gandhi Hall in Tagore Park on Aug 9 Tuesday.

DDPI Moses Jayashekar, the chief guest of the event, garlanded the statue of Gandhiji to inaugurate the event and said that children from a number of schools will participate in the competition for a hunger-free India.

A. Sadananda Shetty, the president of Shridevi Education Foundation, said that programmes like these will increase the children’s knowledge about patriotism and patriotic people.

Further speaking, he said that nobody could question politicians in the past, but now the Lokayukta can not only question politicians, but also investigate their corrupt activities.

Treasures P. Sadananda delivered the welcome address and Joint Director Prabhakar Shriyan proposed the vote of thanks.

Secretary Ismail was also present.
