Mangalore, July 21, 2013: Rev. Fr Mark D’Sa who is a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore passed away on Sunday July 21st 2013 in the afternoon in a private hospital in Mangalore. He was 71 years old and a priest for the last 45 years.
Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza who is away in Tanzania at the moment and Msgr Denis Prabhu the Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore have condoled his death.
He was born at Kirem Parish on 26th of April, 1942. He joined St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore for the priestly studies and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore on the 3rd of December 1968.
He was the Assistant Parish Priest of Barkur after the ordination. He was the Parish Priest of Pakshikere, Sullia, Barkur and Kota.
On health reasons he voluntarily retired from the active priestly ministry in 2002. As retired priest he was residing at Vianney Home, the retired priests’ home of the Diocese of Mangalore at Kankanady.
‘He was a soft spoken, mild, gentle priest with commitment. He Had build a new church in Sullia. Inspite of the sickness for a long duration he has endeared himself to the service of the people of God and obeyed the will of God’ said Msgr Denis Prabhu the Vicar General of the Diocese.
He has left behind two brothers, one sister and large number of spiritual beneficiaries.
His funeral Mass would be celebrated at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia at 4.00 p.m. on Monday 22nd of July and the mortal remains would be interred at priests’ cemetery in Valencia.
