Former GP Chief arrested on kidnap charges

Mangalore, Nov 23, 2013 : The Bajpe police have arrested Abdul Razak Kukkaje, a Congress member and former president of Ira Gram Panchayat on the charges of kidnapping the newly appointed manager of a stone quarry at Bajpe-Yedapadavu.

The accused was arrested from his house at Kukkajebailu in Bantwal on November 21, Thursday night.

The police had earlier arrested Hassainar, a former quarry manager and another accused in connection with the case.

A case had been registered on August 24 alleging that Anwar Sadat who hailed from Kerala and was a quarry manager was kidnapped, attacked and threatened. Though two of the accused were arrested, Razak was absconding.

It is learnt, Hassainar, the previous manager of the stone quarry was unhappy over Sadat, the newly appointed manager and wanted him to quit. The police have produced Razak before the court on November 22 Friday. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
