Mangalore, Oct 20, 2012 : Flames, an association of mechanical engineering students of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management organized Wheels 2012, an auto expo on its campus in Adyar on Oct 19, Friday.
A rally of vintage cars and bikes, super bikes, and super cars was flagged off at Mahaveera Circle and ended on the college campus.
Sanjay Rao, MD of Mandovi Motors Pvt. Ltd., inaugurated the expo by lighting the traditional lamp. Dr. A. J. Anthony, the head of the department of mechanical engineering, provided information regarding Wheels 2012.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rao spoke about the importance of wearing safety belts, adding that strict safety belt laws have not yet been implemented in India.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. D. L. Prabhakar said that the automobile industry is the fastest growing industry in the world, adding that Sahyadri College teaches its students about vehicle safety. He also congratulated Flames for organizing the expo.
Prof. G. R. Rai and Arvind K. P. also spoke on this occasion.
The public can view the expo till 8:00 p.m. A large number of reputed automobile dealers are taking part in this expo; besides, car accessory dealers are showcasing the latest car accessories.
