Film Festival 2013 at SDM College from Feb 6 to 10

Mangalore, Feb 1, 2013: Sahamatha Film Society in association with SDM College of Business Management will host ‘Film Festival 2013’ at SDM College of Business Management Conference Hall from Feb 6 to Feb 10.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Feb 1, Friday, Sahamatha Film Society Secretary Chandrakala Nandavar said that Kannada Film Director B Suresh will inaugurate the event on Feb 6, Wednesday, while theatre and film director Sadananda Suvarna will preside.

SDM College Principal Dr K Devaraj, Resident Editor of The Hindu Govind Belgaumkar and Prof Phaniraj, Principal, MIT Manipal, will be the chief guests.

B M Rohini, senior litterateur will deliver the valedictory address on Feb 10, Sunday.  Dr Gananath Ekkaru, Professor, Government First Grade College, Tenka Nidiyoor, Udupi will preside over the valedictory function. Fr Vijay Victor Lobo, Director Sandesha Foundation and Dr Kadri Yogish Bangera will be the chief guests, she said.

She said that the film festival gives an opportunity to the students to watch famed films. There will be contests based on the films, at the end of every film, she said. The public can view three films for Rs 100 in three shows screened at 10 am, 4 pm and 6.30 pm. The seating capacity is 160, she informed.

 The films to be screened on Feb 6 are ‘Mother India’, ‘Artha’ and ‘Ek Din Prathidin.’ On Feb 7 ‘Vamshavraksha’, ‘Neecha Nagar’ and ‘Vanaprastham’ will be screened.

The films to be screened on the other days are ‘Nirmalyam’, ‘Maa Bhoomi’ and ‘Engeyum Eppodum’ on Feb 8, ‘Bhuvan Shome,’ ‘Gulal’ and ‘Aparoopa’ on Feb 9 and ‘Dahan,’ ‘Abhichurina Post Office’ and ‘Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar’ on Feb 10.
