Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalor, Aug 9, 2011: A fast track court granted conditional bail to Dr. K. V. Renukaprasad, one of the chief accused in the murder of Prof. A. S. Ramakrishna, the administrative officer of the KVG Group of Educational Institutions, based in Sullia, on Aug 8 Monday.

renu1  It may be recalled that Prof. Ramakrishna was brutally murdered by a group of hired thugs at the end of April when he was taking a walk with his son near Southern Residency Hotel at Ambatedka. Renukaprasad was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on May 9, after which he has been in and out of private and government hospitals because of poor health.

His applications for bail were turned down twice. Earlier, the prosecution argued that it might be difficult to nab Polali Vaman, another chief accused in the case, if Renukaprasad was granted bail. However, the police arrested Vaman shortly thereafter.

A fast track court heard the case and the judge granted him bail on security of Rs. 1 lakh and personal guarantee from a third person.
