The families of Tharanath Kannur, Tharanath Alva, Venugopal, and Rajesh, who are all in police custody for attacking youngsters at the home stay, say that the four are innocent.

Chandrika Alva, wife of Tharanath Alva; Vidyavathi, wife of Venugopal; Nalinakshi, wife of Ramesh Kotian, Shri Vidhya, sister of Rajesh; and Sarvani, mother of Tharanath maintained that the four have nothing to do with the case. They said that they have already appealed to the commissioner, deputy commissioner, and the superintendent of police, but in vain.

According to Chandrika Alva, neither Tharanath Alva nor Venugopal had anything to do with the case. They were only two of the several people who gathered at the spot after the incident took place. She claimed that her husband has not been involved in any immoral activity so far.

Saravani said that her son Tharanath Kannur was not even in Padil when the young people were attacked.

Vidyavathi said that her husband Venugopal is a rickshaw driver, who is not associated with any organization. She lamented that the family is now in a desperate condition as it has lost its only breadwinner.

Shri Vidya said that her brother Rajesh had only gone to meet his friend Subhash Padil after watching the news on TV.
