Engineers Association holds seminar on ‘Water proofing and harvesting’

Mangalore, Apr 6, 2013: A two-day seminar on ‘Water Proofing and Water Harvesting’ opened  at the Hotel Ocean Pearl here on April 6 , Saturday under the aegis of the  Kodagu Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Engineers Association.  Prof. A Vittal Hegde of the Department of Applied Mechanics and Hydraulics, NITK, Suratkal, inaugurated the programme.

In his  address, Prof. Vittal said natural causes alone cannot be attributed to recent climate changes. Most of the global warming is due to human activities, he asserted. Stating that Climate Change  was not new to earth, he said even records of the past reveals that climate system changes naturally over a wide range of time.

He also spoke about rain water harvesting  and said the water thus accumulated can be used for watering the garden, for livestock, irrigation, drinking etc.

HV Harish, President of the Association, presided over the function. General Secretary M Divakar Shetty, Engineers  Gajanana Hegde, Vishnu Bhat and others were present on the occasion.
