Mangalore, Sep 17, 2013: In a tragic incident reported from Kudroli on September 15, Sunday night, an engineering student lost his life after coming into contact with a hi-tension wire which passed close by a hospital building.

The deceased youth is Yajnesh Shetty (20), a second year mechanical engineering student of a college at Kenjar. He hailed from Mumbai. The mishap took place when Yajnesh had been to the Ullal Nursing Home along with a friend on Sunday night to enquire about the health of a relative who was admitted to the hospital for treatment of Malaria. Yajnesh’s hand tragically came into contact with the hi-tension wire when he extended his hand out of the building to throw the mucus of his running nose.
Meanwhile, locals have blamed the authorities for the lackadaisical approach of laying hi-tension power lines close by the buildings in the area. The electric poles were shifted to the roadside during the Kudroli-Mannagudda road widening works. The mishap took due to lack of precautionary measures to avert contact with the wires passing close by the window, locals said.
Barke police have registered a case.MESCOM officials too have visited the spot.
