Jagadish Ammunje artist diedMangalore, Nov 27, 2013:  Jagadish Ammunje, a well known artist who was also the Founder of Jagath Art Gallery, died  on November 27, Wednesday morning.  The fifty eight year old artist was ailing since some time and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for hyperglycemia. He has left behind his wife and  two children.

A highly talented artist, Jagadish Ammunje’s art works including land scapes and portraits have been widely appreciated.  Ammunje was also the founder of Jagath Art Gallery and had  served as Founder President of Karnataka State Trainers Collective. He was even instrumental in conducting several art workshops.

The unique features of his creations are that they used to reflect the plight of the common man. Moreover,  unlike others of his tribe, Ammunje wanted to be a mass artist.  His  skills and craftsmanship was evident in the Tulu Grama which he had recreated at Ujire during the World Tulu Conference.

His last rites will be held at the Nandigudda Crematorium in Mangalore on November 28, Thursday at 9.30 am.
