Elections for DK Zilla Sahithya Parishad president on April 29

Mangalore, March 20, 2012 : Elections will be held for the post of the president of the DK Zilla Sahithya Parishad on April 29 in the tahsildar’s office at five taluks from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Ravichandra Nayak, the tahsildar and election nodal officer for Mangalore, addressed reporters on Saturday and said that the DK Kannada Sahitya Parishad has 1,932 members from Mangalore, Puttur, Bantwal, Belthangady, and Sullia according to the final voters’ list released on March 14. He said that only those who have been members for the past 3 years are eligible to cast their votes.

Nominations will be accepted at the office of the tahsildar, Mangalore taluk, between April 21 and April 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates can contest for the post of the Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Parishad only if they have been members of the parishad from the past 10 years while those contesting for the president’s post at the district level should have been members for the past 5 years.

The nominations will be scrutinized on March 31 at the Mangalore taluk office and the last date to withdraw nominations is April 5.

The votes will be counted on the evening of April 29, the same day as the elections, and the code of conduct will be enforced from Feb 2, 2012.
