Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar takes over as NMAMIT principal

Nitte June 20, 2012 : Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar took over as the new principal of NMAMIT in Nitte at a formal ceremony held in the presence of N. Vinaya Hegde, president of Nitte Education Trust and chancellor of Nitte University.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hegde urged Dr. Chiplunkar to work for the progress of the institute so that it gets recognized at the international level.

N. Vishal Hegde, trustee of the Nitte Education Trust, and the heads of several departments were present.

About Dr. Chiplunkar

Dr. Chiplunkar, a resident of Mala in Karkala, is the son of Vimala Chiplunkar and N. R. Chiplunkar. He completed his basic education in Karkala and Sullia and did his higher education in engineering in NIE, Mysore. He got his Ph.D. from Mysore University for research in engineering and computer science.

Dr. Chiplunkar has more than 25 years experience as a teacher and researcher of engineering and computer science. He was the vice principal, dean (academics), and head of the computer science and engineering department of NMAMIT before taking over as the principal. He has so far guided two research scholars and is now guiding 5 more. He is the author of an engineering text book and has edited a number of national and international conference papers.

Having written and presented over 50 technical papers, Dr. Chiplunkar is a member of several professional societies such as IEEE, IE, ISTE, and CSI and has visited several countries such as Japan, USA, Thailand, China, UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar. A member of Rotary Club of Nitte, Dr. Chiplunkar is actively involved in several organizations.
