Mangalore, October 29oct 2012 : Fr. Ronnie Prabhu, former rector of St. Aloysius Institutions of Mangalore, released Dr. Michael Lobo’s book “Is Christianity a Flawless Religion?”
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Prabhu said that people must question their own faith, but must be careful about the way they ask the questions. He said that one must ask questions as insiders, and not outsiders, because insiders ask to know, but outsiders ask to attack.
Regarding the book’s title and theme, Fr. Prabhu said that Christianity has a few flaws, but is not ashamed of these flaws because they are “true to life.” He also said that Dr. Lobo had made certain observations of the Catholicism of old and ought to have focused on the current situation as the Church has undergone a number of changes.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Swebert D’Silva, principal of St. Aloysius College, said that science and religion can go together.
Writer Giselle Mehta expressed her opinion that religion has traditionally been a disciplinary tool, adding that Europe, a prominent centre of Christianity, is today the world’s fastest growing atheistic continent.
Speaking about his own work, the author Dr. Lobo said that his book is a critical analysis of Christianity, adding that he has asked certain questions on the basis of logic and reason.
