District Election Observer directs police dept to ensure free and fair polls

 Mangalore, March 6, 2013  :   A meeting of  police officials and sector officials was convened at the Mangalore city Corporation Meeting Hall on March 5, Tuesday under the presidentship of District Election Observer AK Monnappa to oversee the  security arrangements made by the  Police Department  in view of the March 7 elections  to local administrative bodies.

Speaking on the occasion, Monnappa directed that the police intelligence Wing should be more vigilant and take all precautionary measures to hold free and fair polls. He also stressed the need for better co-ordination between officials and staff deputed on poll duty. At the same time he warned of tough action against those neglecting election duty.


The District Election Observer also sought information from police personnel on the sensitive and hyper sensitive polling booths. He further directed that peace committee meetings be held in areas which have been identified as hyper sensitive.


Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar,  Additional DC  KA Dayananda, MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar and other officials were present.
