Mangalore, Feb 10, 2013: The Veerarani Abbakka Utsav decennial celebrations 2013  organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture and Veerarani Abbakka Utsav Samithi, was inaugurated by veteran writer Dr Saara Aboobakker,  at the Rani Abbakka Vedike of Ullal Bharath High School grounds on February 9, Saturday.

Saara Aboobakker lashed out at the vigilante group that  was attacking innocents on the pretext of protecting the culture of the land. Let the fight against the moral policemen begin from Ullal, she urged.

On the controversy over Tipu Sultan and the efforts made by some to project Tipu  as anti-Hindu, she said  the fact that several had cheated Tipu including Meer Sadiq and Poornaiah, is concealed. She also said there was a need to present facts regarding Tipu Sultan and his rule.
