Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat inaugurates Fernandes Academy

Mangalore, Sep 3, 2012: Karnataka State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat inaugurated the Fernandes Academy at Valencia on September 3, Sunday. Fr. Ravi Santhosh Kamath blessed the premises. 


In his inaugural address, Mr. Bhat said that Mangalore is growing and developing rapidly in all sectors, adding that one sees innovations in the city all the time. He said that the government is planning to convert Mangalore into a tourism hotspot, owing to which it has taken up unique projects such as the Ring Road to promote tourism, commercialism, and residential projects. The government is also planning the construction of a planetarium and a golf course meeting international standards. Voicing his opinion about Fernandes Academy, he said that it has introduced the new concept of training nurses who aspire to work in foreign countries.

Dr. Mohan Alva launched the website of Fernandes Academy on this occasion. Addressing the gathering, he said that Mangalore and Udupi have developed both in the medical and education sector, adding that both districts are capable of delivering high-quality education to students and training them to be good citizens. However, the districts have not generated enough jobs for the people it trains. Fernandes Academy, therefore, will do the great work of training people who wish to take up jobs abroad. 


Mayor Gulzar Banu, Fr. Richard Coelho, and KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza also spoke on this occasion.


Among those present were Rohan Monteiro, proprietor of Property Infratech Pvt. Ltd., and BJP leaders Shrikar Prabhu and Jagadish Adhikari.
