Mangalore, Sep 2, 2013 : Dalit leaders who participated in the SC/ST Grievance Redressal Meeting held at the SP office on September 1, Sunday took strong exception to the failure of the authorities to intimate them regarding the recent visit of Shivanna, Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

Raising the issue, Dalit representative Ashok Konchady said had they been informed in advance, then they would have aired their grievances with the Commission member. He at the same time refuted the claims of Shivanna that the cases of atrocities on Dalits has reduced in the district.
Responding to the grievance, SP Abhishek Goel assured to bring the matter to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner.
Another Dalit, Koosappa complained that the Puttur police filed a ‘B’ report in the court regarding the complaint lodged by him alleging threats to his life. He demanded a re-probe into the same. Koosappa also alleged that the Kadaba SI was seeing to it that the accused in such cases lodged counter complaints. The SP assured to look into both the issues.
The SP also informed about the plans to have a traffic police station in Bantwal and to have five of the 21 newly inducted home guards to be deputed at Bantwal for traffic regulation works.
