Dalit community girl accuses MP of cheating with job promise

Puttur, Aug 30, 2013: Jyoti, daughter of Gangadhar of Paltady village said that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had assured to provide job in CAMPCO during the by-election and still did not fulfill his promise. 

Speaking at the press meet on August 29, Friday she said that, as a member of the Dalit community she had filed her nomination as the Congress-backed candidate from ward 1 of Savanoor gram panchayat for the by-election.

Later, she was taken by two residents called Ganesh Rai Kunjadi and Sudhir Kumar Rai to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s house. MP had pressurized her to withdraw her nomination and promised to offer a job in CAMPCO. Jyothi who was in need of a job had agreed to his offer and withdrew her nomination.

Although the by election was held long back, Jyothi remained unemployed till date. She also said that if he provides the promised job, she will happily accept it even today. The purpose of bringing the matter through the media was to avoid the women from the depressed classes or any community from being cheated, she added.

Jyoti’s father Gangadhar, Sudarshan Naik Kampa, taluk panchayat’s former member Abdul Rahman Haji Attikere and Jayanth Poojary were present.
