DYFI demands quick reconstruction of Lady Goschen Hospital

Mangalore, Oct 15, 2012 : The DYFI organized a protest in front of Lady Goschen Hospital on Oct 15, Monday demanding the quick construction of Lady Goschen Hospital, which was demolished a long time back for renovation.

DYFI District President Muneer Katipalla said that poor and middle class people need Lady Goschen Hospital as medical treatment in private hospitals is very expensive. Pregnant women belonging to poor and middle class families depend on Lady Goschen Hospital, and now that the hospital is demolished, they are deprived of basic medical facilities. Moreover, the conditions in that part of the building left intact are appalling, he added.

Flaying the government for its attempts to indirectly privatize the hospital by cancelling available free treatment, he said that the government trusted an entrepreneur in Andhra Pradesh, who promised that he would provide funds for the reconstruction of the hospital, and demolished the old structure. And now no politician is interested in pursuing the cause, he added.
