Mangalore, Feb 28, 2013: Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the Election Campaign for civic poll 2013 at Town Hall on Feb 28, Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the upcoming civic poll election will decide about the development of the district. Claiming that the BJP party has done good developmental work in the district and state, he said if the Congress government had sanctioned Rs 430 crore in 25 years, the BJP government has given  Rs 525 crore in its 5 years  rule.

He said initiatives such as e-governance and Sakala programme  have been introduced for the first time in the state administration. It has also implemented various other schemes for the welfare of the women and children. “If state has to see more developmental works, then BJP must come into power again,” he said.

Sadananda Gowda predicted that during this  election  BJP will get 50% of the votes while all other parties will together hold 50% votes. Criticizing former minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said Yeddy claims that he has implemented various schemes, but it should not be forgotten that the schemes have been implemented  using the government funds and not from his personal account.  He also wished good luck to the contestants of 60 wards and honoured them with the BJP shawl.


Presiding over event, Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat said that BJP which came  to power for the first time in Mangalore City Corporation during the previous election, has  done  tremendous developmental works.


He also claimed that it was owing to the efforts of the BJP administration in Mangalore that the second vented dam was sanctioned in order to solve the water problems of Mangalore. The dam will be completed by the month of  May, he said. He also assured that the  drainage problem and the foot path works will be completed very soon.  The government has also sanctioned fund for synthetic-track at Mangala Stadium and tourism projects in the district such as 3D Swamy Vivekananda planetorium at Pilikula, Golf Course, Aqua Marine Park and water sports at Bengre are on the process.


Further the MCC has planned to give 2000 houses to poor from MUDA, he added.

He also released the election manifesto on the occasion. BJP city unit president Srikar Prabhu welcomed the guests and gathering.


MLC Monappa Bhandary, former MLA K Jayaram Shetty, Sanjeev Matandoor, former mayors Ganesh Hosabettu, Rajani Dugganna, Shankar Bhat, MUDA Chairman S Ramesh, Yuva Morch President Kishore Kumar Puttur, SC Morcha President Sanjeeva, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary and other were present on the dais.
