DKWJU pays tributes to late Udupi Narasimha Rao

Mangalore, July 14, 2012 : The Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union (DKWJU) organized a condolence meeting, during which they paid tributes to veteran journalist Udupi Narasimha Rao at Press Club on July 14, Saturday.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Jayaram Rai said that Mr. Rao was a simple and straight forward journalist. He said that Mr. Rao chose journalism as his career because he was inspired by his journalist father. Stating that Rao was so simple that he used to walk to work, he said that young journalists must follow in his footsteps.

Govind Belgaunkar, senior reporter of The Hindu, said that Mr. Rao was a devoted journalist, who represented Mangalore for The Hindu.

Udupi Narasimha Rao died in his house near Kadri Temple on July 13, Friday. He began his career in 1947 as a reporter for The Mail (Madras) and The Times of India (Mumbai). He also worked for Mathrubhoomi for 12 years and for The Hindu from 1965 to 1993, the year in which he retired.


Several journalists offered flowers before the portrait of the deceased journalist.
