Mangalore, Aug 18, 2011: The DK Zilla Panchayat held its third general body meeting at Nethravathi Hall, Zilla Panchayat today. Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash chaired this meeting. Stating that this was his first meeting as the CEO of ZP, Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash said that the ZP of DK must become an example for other ZPs to imitate.
Mohammed, the Congress leader, said on the occasion that the ZP should meet at least once in 45 days, but meetings are not held regularly. He urged the CEO to call meetings regularly according to the rules.
In response, Shailaja Bhat, the president of the ZP, said that the ZP is conducting meetings and added that in future the ZP will definitely conduct meetings once in 45 days. She also said that the ZP will release a telephone directory and several informational handouts in the near future.
CEO Vijayaprakash said that 113 schools in the district now have computer facilities under the Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan, but these facilities are not maintained properly. He said that the new facilities introduced in schools under various schemes should be maintained well.
Mamatha Gatty, the president of the District Women’s Congress, said that government schools have a rule that allots one teacher for every 30 children, but this rule is not followed in aided schools. Responding to her statement, Dr. Vijayaprakash said that the issue will be considered.
Naveen Kumar and Janardhan Gowda were also present.
