Mangalore, June 10, 2014: Asha Timmappa Gowda, the new President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat has informed that the Zilla Panchayat will implement a Grama Snehi or Village Friendly system in order to find early solution to grievances of people residing in various ZP constituencies.
Addressing press persons at the ZP office on June 9, Monday she said under the new System people can directly approach their ZP members with their problems.
ZP Vice President Satish Kumpala said the ZP members who hear the woes of the people, will then bring the same to the notice of officials and visit the areas along with the officials and hold a review meet.
ZP Chief Asha Timmappa Gowda said a sum of Rs 20 lakh each has been released to 21 Gram Panchayats to facilitate solid waste management under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. A plant of segregating plastic wastes from the garbage will be set up in Bellare on a land measuring 1.6 acre, she informed.
Stating that waste treatment units are already operative in Kadaba, Tannirpantha, Laila, Uppinangady, Subrahmanya, Vittal and Kinnigoli, she said the manure is sent to the market in different names.
She also said there is a plan to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly to re-implement the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojan. A delegation will also be taken to the CM to discuss the multi-village drinking water project, she informed.
The ZP Chief further requested public not to dump poultry wastes in rivers and instead convert them into manure.
