Cruise vessel calls at NMP

Mangalore, Mar 9, 2012 : M. V. Seaborne Legend, a cruise vessel with 190 passengers and a crew of 173 on board called at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on March 8 Wednesday, the 13th cruise vessel to call at the port this financial year.

 

 

 

The vessel had arrived from Indonesia and set sail to Goa in the evening, following which it will move on to Mumbai. Most of the passengers were from the UK and the USA. Around 134 of them opted to go on a ground tour arranged by local tour operators Lia Travels. The tourists were taken to interesting places such as the cashew processing unit in Baikampady, the 1000 Pillar Jain Temple in Moodubidri, Soans Farm, Gomateshwara Statue in Karkala, Gokarnanatha Temple in Kadri, St. Aloysius Chapel, and many others. Fourteen passengers decided to take a flight to Delhi and Agra and board the ship at Mumbai.

Four more vessels will call at NMP during the end of March. Brilliance of Sea, with 3000 passengers and a crew of 1200, is scheduled to arrive at April 1 and will be the largest cruise vessel to call at the port. It is expected to call again on April 12.
