Cordel church centenary football tourney concludes

Mangalore, Sep 2, 2011: The valedictory of the Cordel Church Centenary Football Cup 2011 organized by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Kulshekar parish was held on the grounds of the church on September 1, Thursday.

Fr. Anil D’Souza, the diocesan ICYM director, felicitated the main sponsors of the event and congratulated all the participants, the winners, and the organizers. D. M. Aslam, the chairman of DK Football Associations, presented mementos to coworkers and referees.

 

MLA U. T. Khader congratulated the organizers, winners, and participants and spoke in appreciation of the sportive spirit exhibited by the young people in spite of the heavy rains. He also urged the ICYM members to engage themselves in social and political activities.

Ln. P. Kishore Rao, the Lions District governor, delivered the presidential address, in which he said that participating in sports events is just as important as winning it.

Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest, delivered the concluding keynote address.

Fr. Melwyn Noronha, the assistant parish priest, announced the names of the winners.

Fr. John Moras, the assistant parish priest; Agnel Rodrigues of the Lions Club; Manjunath, the MD of the State Bank of India; Praveen Patrao, the vice president of the parish council; Sushil Noronha, the ICYM animator; Francis Grippon, the president of ICYM; Sushan D’Souza, the convener of the event was also present.
