Controversy: Boy in burkha enters women’s hostel to spend time with girl friend

Mangalore, July 16, 2012: The case of Naveed Sheikh who gained entry into a women’s hostel in Shivbagh by wearing a burkha to spend some time with his girlfriend who was staying there has become a raging controversy. 

On the night of July 13, Saturday, Naveed Sheikh was caught with his girlfriend in the ladies hostel. He was in the habit of entering the ladies hostel wearing a burkha every Saturday so that he could spend some time with his girlfriend. According to the police, both are from Sirsi and study in the same college.

 

 

According to one of the girls staying in the hostel, they had seen a person in burkha, but never thought that it was a boy, and not a girl. His girlfriend never spoke about him, so nobody suspected anything. When asked how Naveed was finally caught, she said that she was in her room when she heard a lot of commotion outside. One of the girls had heard a man’s voice coming from the girl’s room and told everyone about it. The police were called and they caught him when he was trying to run away.

Stating that the girls are so shocked that they do not know what to say to his girlfriend, with who he was caught. She said that the girl might leave the hostel soon. 

The boy’s friends, however, feel that he has done nothing wrong and should not even have been caught in the first place. They first tried defending their friend by saying that he was only trying to win a bet, but had nothing to say when asked how he was found half-naked. Naveed’s friends are also upset because the girl escaped being caught, while only Naveed was caught.

The police also interrogated the hostel warden and the watchman.
