Congress campaigns hard for Jayaprakash Hegde

Udupi:, march 8, 2012 : Political parties in general and the Congress in particular are campaigning fiercely now that only 11 days are left for the Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by polls.

 

 

 

 

 

On March 7 Wednesday , Janardhan Poojary, the Congress leader, participated in a padayatra in Udupi, in support of the Congress candidate. This padayatra commenced at the Udupi fish market, where he interacted with fisherwomen, meat stall owners, shopkeepers, and members of the public and urged them to vote for Jayaprakash Hegde.

On the sidelines of the padayatra, he told reporters that Jayaprakash Hegde has a lot of public support and that people have been expressing a lot of faith in the Congress.

K. P. Nanjundi, the secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC); M. A. Gafoor; Amirth Shenoy, the youth Congress leader; Harikrishna Bantwal; and many others were with Poojary.

Meanwhile, Ved Prakash, the secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) organized a Congress road-show vehicle in Congress Bhavan in the presence of Veronica Cornelio, the president of the district Congress women’s wing; Sulochana Damodar; Amrith Shenoy; and others.

M. Veerappa Moily, the union corporate affairs minister, has also done his bit. He visited individual houses in Kundapur and Kota on March 7 Wednesday and urged people to vote for Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde.

Moily was accompanied by R. V. Deshpande, the former minister; Raju Poojary, the former Udupi ZP president; Shyamala Bhandary, the Congress leader; Ranjitha M. B., the vice president of the KPCC; Gopal Poojary, the district Congress leader; J. P. Naik; Dinakars Shetty; and many others.
