Mangalore, Feb 4,2013: DK District in-charge Minister CT Ravi has alleged that the Congress had failed to garner enough public support for its recent Padayatra from Ullal to Malpe.

Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on February 3, Sunday, Ravi  also was highly critical of the Congress leaders for threatening to jail RSS leader behind bars if the party came to power. Ravi also chose to term Kalladka Bhat as a ‘true patriot.’

On the controversy over proposed Tipu University, he said that the BJP would oppose the   University no matter if it was in power or not.

The minister further said the state government has right since the beginning been very clear on its stance that the BJP will not allow setting up of any university for minorities in the state.

At the same time, he said the BJP would not object if  any national level university or central university is named after any Muslim leader who was more secular than Tipu.

He said the state government will willingly sanction land at Srirangapatna or any other place if the Centre comes forward to set up any central university and name it after any leader like former president APJ Abdul Kalam and shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan.
