Confusion at MCC office as JD(S) demands rejection of Congress candidate Appi’s nomination

Mangalore, Feb 25, 2013: Confusion prevailed at the MCC office for sometime during scrutiny of nominations on February 25, Monday when JD(S) leaders urged the election authorities to reject the nomination papers of Congress candidate from 59 Jeppu ward Appi on the grounds that she had not furnished any information regarding her earlier government job as a cook. The JD(S) Leaders also argued that they have documents to prove their point.

 

There was a confusion when leaders of both the parties gathered and tried to defend themselves in the presence of the election officer. Finally, the election officer ruled that he accepted the nomination papers of Appi as the case does not come under his purview.

Later, speaking to the media, Ivan D’Souza said the JD(S) argument that Appi was earlier holding a government job was far from truth and added the documents mentioned the name of one Appi Latha.

JD(S) leader MG Hegde however claimed that his party had the evidence and added it would move the court in the days to come. He also claimed that Appi who is contesting the third time, had not furnished the information regarding her government job even while contesting in the past.
