Mangaluru, Dec 18, 2019:  City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha  has warned of stern action against elements spreading rumours that protests against Citizenship  Amendment Bill will be held in Mangaluru.

Speaking to reporters at his office here on December 18, Wednesday, Harsha said it has come to the notice of the Department  that rumours were spread through WhatsApp that a huge protest would take place in Mangaluru on December 20. The Commissioner  said the Department has so far not received any  request seeking permission to hold protest on that day. He said  as of now permission has been granted on the basis of six applications  to hold protest peacefully.

 


Referring to a recent protest against the CAA without permission, the Commissioner said 38 were detained. He also warned of action against anyone  holding protest without permission.

Some people in whose names  social media messages are circulating stating protests will take place on December 20 and 23, have clarified that they  have not given call for any protest, the Commissioner said.
