Mangalore, Aug 16, 2012: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) protested against the Mangalore home stay attack in front of the DC’s office on August 16, Thursday. The CPI (M) also held a protest rally from Town Hall to the DC’s office.
In his protest address, Vasanth Achary, CPI (M) leaders, said that the attackers molested girls under the excuse of protecting Hindu culture. Further, he alleged that State Women’s
Commission Chairperson C. Manjula’s report on the home stay attack was dictated by the RSS. Instead of demanding strict action against the HJV, she has pointed the finger of blame at the victims, accusing them of drug abuse.
He also criticized a senior reporter, who had stated that the HJV has done what the victims’ parents ought to have done.
Speaking on the occasion, B. Madhava, secretary of the district unit of the CPI (M), said that Hindu outfits have been attacking women and young people in the city for a long time. He cited the example of Hindu outfits assaulting a group of men and women in Pumpwell on June 4, 2005.
Hindu outfits are also responsible for the attack on churches in 2008 and the attack on Amnesia Pub in 2009, he said. Although these outfits have been wrecking communal peace and harmony in the district, no action has been taken against them, he said.
Several CPI (M) leaders such as Muneer Katipalla and Sunil Kumar Bajal were present.
