Poojary said that it is not necessary for the government to enact law regarding superstitious belief in Hindu society to bring changes as Hindu’s have given up many blind beliefs and practices over the years.

He also said that there is lot of differences between beliefs and practices. Combining ‘moola nambike’ (beliefs) and ‘mooda Nambike’ (superstition) is not right. Considering ‘Paada Puja’ of Swamijis and wearing ’rudrakshi maala’ by them as superstitious acts is not right.

Poojary opined that not only Hindu’s but also Muslim, Christian, Buddhists believe in superstition, hence it is not right to target only the Hindu community hurting their feelings. Further, he said, CM must not announce such kind of sensitive issues before discussing it with cabinet members.

Commenting on ’Shaadi Bhagya’ scheme, Poojary said that implementing such schemes for the benefit of Muslim women is a great work, meanwhile leaving behind the poor girls from other community is not right. There are also poor girls in Hindu community and such kind of decision will lead to disharmony and ill-feelings.

Congress members Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Arun Coelho, Harikrishna Bantwal and Purandardas Kulur were present.
