Explaining the water crisis to the CM, Dr. Channappa Gowda, the DC of DK, said that water is being supplied to villages through water tankers and urged him to release Rs. 2 crore to help the district administration deal with the water crisis and supply drinking water to villages facing acute drinking water shortage.

The rapidly declining level of water in the Thumbay dam, which is the chief source of drinking water for Mangalore, has led the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to reduce the quantity of water it supplies to Ullal and Mulky. Drinking water problem is very bad in 83 villages of DK, and especially in villages such as Vogga, Kolnad, Naringana, and Pajeer in Mangalore and Bantwal, said the DC.

The CM agreed to release Rs. 2 crore and wanted to know about the progress of the Sakala project. The DC said that Puttur, the place where the scheme was implemented on a pilot basis, has recorded 100 percent results with Sakala. He also said that 1,511 applications were received on April 2 Monday in DK, the same day it was inaugurated, and 720 of these applications were already processed.

The CM had called the video conference to know where various districts stand with regard to issues such as drinking water, drought, employment, cattle preservation, task forces, Sakala, and so forth.

He stated at the end of the video conference that, after interacting with the DCs, he had come to know that certain issues raised by the opposition in assembly were false and baseless. He also urged the DCs to monitor problems and deal with them at the earliest possible.

Dr. K. N. Vijayprakash, the CEO of ZP, and Dayanand, the additional DC, were also present during the video conferencing.
