Budget aimed at appeasing minorities, says BJP

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, March 8, 2025: The BJP said that the State Budget for 2025-26 is aimed at appeasing minorities.

Satish Kumpala, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the party said in a statement that announcing 4% reservation in public works contracts for Muslims and focusing heavily on provisions aimed at benefiting the Muslim community, while overlooking the needs of other marginalised groups such as SCs, STs, and OBCs prove that the Budget is aimed at the welfare of only one community.

The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not announced any special schemes for farmers and women, he said.

Capt. Ganesh Karnik, former BJP MLC, said that the Chief Minister has completly ignored the majority community. The Budget has completely ignored the industrial sector.

It has not announced a permanent solution to the issues of guest teachers.

Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP, said: “Appeasement is the foundation of Congress politics and Karnataka Budget reiterated it.”

“It is an overt attempt to not just indulge in unapologetic minoriy appeasement but also a crude reminder to the larger public that the Congress does not care about Hindus or the backward communities or the linguistic minorities nor about the secular fabric of the State,” Capt. Chowta posted on X.

Kishore Kumar Puttur, BJP MLC, said that the focus of the Budget was vote bank politics.
