Bola Chittaranjan Das’s new Tulu paddana CDs released

Mangalore, July 6, 2012: Senior writer and advocate Thonse Narayan Poojary released Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty’s Tulu Paddanna CDs at a special ceremony held by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy on its chavadi on July 6, Friday.

Mr. Poojary released two CDs titled Amar Beerer Mamanni and Shri Madhwa Prana Dever on this occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Poojary said that Tulu culture is fast disappearing, and under these circumstances, Bola Chittaranaj Das Shetty’s CDs, which teach about the culture and lifestyle of the Tulu people, are real boons for the youth. He urged everybody to take the CDs home and listen to them.

Speaking on the occasion, critic Padmanabha Rai said that these paddanas will teach people about the greatness of Koti – Chennayya’s maternal uncle and his contributions to Tulunadu. He said that the words used in the paddanas are simple and easy to understand. Moreover, the paddanas deal with simple daily life issues, which people can easily relate to, he added.

Speaking about his CDs, Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty said that he has sung the paddanas in different styles while remaining true to the original stories they are based on. Stating that there are several variants of the Koti Chennayya story, he said that he has given all the details for the benefit of listeners.

Umanath Kotian, president of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, presided over the event. M. Sarvottam Anchan, former president of the Taluk Tulu Sahitya Parishad, was the chief guest.

Ullas R. Shetty, the critic, and M. B. Gururaj, the music organizer, were also present.
