Mangalore, Feb 24, 2012 : The Ahikla Bharatha Billawara Union, based in Kudroli, has issued a press release in which it stated that the annual meeting it had arranged at Narayana Guru College on Feb 21 Tuesday was peaceful and successful in spite of media reports that stated that the meeting had to be cancelled owing to quarrels among members.
Naveenchandra D. Suvarna, the president of the union, stated that some people within the community had created disturbances for political gain, but when community leaders intervened, everything came back to normal.
Stating that the union has its own regulations and rules, he said that it is not right that only people who offer pujas throughout their lives at Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple in Kudroli can become members of the union because people of different castes offer puja at the temple.
The release also states that the union works for the development of the Billava community and expects all community members to serve at the temple in spite of political differences of opinion.
